2014 / Companions of Saint Nicholas. Old ritual during which men dress up into costumes of devils and death. Encouraged with alcohol, they march through the village frightening everyone with their rusty chains and bells. This tradition takes place every year in several villages of Valašsko in Czech Republic. I was there, I tasted some spirits, I got smacked with juniper branch and poked with hedgehog skin.
